Now: WHY ARE WE HERE

To those that have found this page from my Instagram or something similar, welcome! I decided to start this little website as the culmination of a few things I had going on in my life.

  1. I have felt for a very long time more awful when using social media, and have found that the easiest way to make my mood worse overall is to scroll on social media. I’m not perfect yet, but watching youtube is definitely a good step away from short form content.
  2. I recently went through a messy breakup, and I found that I had lost who I was and what I was doing in the process. Part of why I’m here is to try and remember who I am, and hopefully document that discovery as I go.
  3. I am on uni holidays right now and I am so bored!!! I need to upskill and get some hobbies so I figured this would be a good place to start

I come from the regional mining town of Lithgow NSW
I ride an electric board called a Onewheel (Over 11000kms logged)
I love musical theatre, and theatre in general, with a big emphasis on performing in it. My favourite role so far was as leaf coneybear in a university production of the 25th annual Putnam county spelling bee.
I have a big interest in alternate fashion, especially crossdressing. On god half the reason I wear skirts is because it’s genuinely too hot in this bitch.
My favourite artist is BENEE. I LOVE BENEE!

Jokes aside though, the current state of social media is designed to farm you for attention. I among others believe that this is actually not a good thing for society, as it is redefining entertainment into an unhealthy form of consumption that treats it’s viewer base as an extractive resource rather than an intelligent audience. The algorithms on these platforms also promote social isolation, by encouraging you to remain on their platform and engage with other users in a way that makes them money, IE not actually going out and socialising with friends.

This website is not a social media. This is an exploration of who I am. This is not designed to keep you here, you can leave whenever you want. This is not even designed to entertain you, so I’m sure you will leave whenever you want. Through this website I will attempt to express who I am, what I think about things, what I find funny etc etc. This is self expression. This is my art.

A good quote to summarise the choice of a website is by Marshall McLuhan- “The message is the medium”. With the freeform structure of a website, I can present information to you however I please, with blogs, photo collections, etc etc. Even the framing of this website should tell you about me, what I like, how much I do or do not care about this etc etc.

I hope anyone who visits this site is inspired, or atleast open to themselves to try to be creative. I didn’t know anything about websites a month ago and yet here I am. Also a big thanks to the youtube channel “struthless” for inspiring me to do this.
