I did it! After 20 years of putting it off, I finally got my ears pierced. Yes that's right, 20 years! From the moment I left the womb, I craved a piercing. The metal, it called to me, in my bones. I needed it. I had to become with the metal. I had to become...
THE MACHINEI joke. But yes today I got my ears pierced. I never really thought I would do this, as I have both
But despite these momentous challenges, it happened. I had originally intended on doing this when I went to Melbourne with my girlfriend at the time. I came out as non binary/ genderfluid early in 2025 and we agreed that I couldn't count as a real enby without ear piercings. Unfortunately, I didn't really feel the will to do it while I was there. Perhaps it was a will of wanting things to stay as they are, or maybe it was just laziness. If I could read my mind 5 months ago, I wouldn't have alot of the problems I face in my life.
But either way, a few weeks ago I was discussing the idea with a couple of my friends, and they too mentioned that they were considering getting piercings. "What a great idea!" - i thought, as I realised that we could all go on a group piercing mission, and get all 5 of our ears pierced at the same time. But sadly over the following two weeks, 5 turned to 4 then 4 to 3, until this morning I discovered that there were 3 of us coming and only two of us getting our ears pierced.
No matter. I would not let this lack of faith deter me.
I booked an appointment and then began my way to SkinKandy Broadway to get my ears pierced. While on the wait for my piercing, I met up with my penetration partner (NOT SEXUAL!!, WE ARE GETTING OUR EARS PIERCED TOGETHER >:) and they helped me pick out my first bra!
Side tangent, was not aware that AUS sizes are done in cm and measured myself in inches, so had to recalculate my band size while I wat at kmart :/. But I take the small joy of not actually having yiddies, so I only had to calculate band size and got to figure out cup size as I chose.
After that, it was piercing time. I showed up, had to sign some papers, and then I was ready to go. I also, through the power of suppresing social anxiety, asked the worker if they had any appointments available after for my friend that forgot to book, and lo and behold, they did.
Additional side note: I was told to get sleepers as my first piercing, but unfortunately I was malinformed and that is not possible. I have to get little stud guys for 6 weeks first before I can choose my earrings. I chose the studs with stars (in titanium cuz my ass is NAWT getting an infection) and then went into the clinic
After that they took me in, got me set up and then marked my ears. After I confirmed the placement they got me to lie down, and then they pierced my ear.I opted for the needle because I heard the gun is much more traumatic and takes way longer to heal. It honestly hurt about as much as I expected. Imagine getting a blood test. Well its like that, but they dont take your blood.
And then I was done! Both ears pierced and I am very happy with the turnout. All in all it only cost me $130 and took about 20 minutes. I now have an 8 week healing journey before I get to put my triquetra earrings in. Hopefully I'll update you then.
But thats essentially it for the blog post. I'm sure this wasn't an amazing read so if you made it this far, good job! I doubt I could. Just testing the waters for now.
Anyway, thanks for reading, love you all and leave a comment in the guestbook if you were here.
BYE :)
